The problem

City Facilities Management needed to overhaul their existing staff intranet system. The previous system suffered from a convoluted user experience, leading to low staff uptake and limited cross-communication between teams.

the Solution

Streamlined User Experience: I redesigned the intranet system from the ground up, placing a strong emphasis on intuitive navigation, user-friendly interfaces, and seamless access to key features such as company news, holiday management, benefits, and documents. This included speaking to multiple departments within the business during workshops to determine both their needs and their issues with the current system. Enhanced Communication Channels: I designed a forum board within the intranet system. This would allow CFM's employees to engage in discussions, share information, and collaborate across teams more effectively. Job Portal Integration: To streamline internal recruitment processes, I incorporated a dedicated job portal within the intranet system. Employees could now explore job opportunities within the company, facilitating internal mobility and career advancement.

The results

The streamlined user experience led to significantly higher engagement based on user testing, with employees finding it easier to access essential features like company news, holiday management, and internal documents. The new forum board was designed to foster collaboration and cross-team communication. Additionally, the integrated job portal made internal recruitment centralised, encouraging career growth and upward mobility among employees. Overall, the redesign created a more connected, efficient, and user-friendly platform that aligned with City FM’s goals.
